One of the questions we hear most often at Alviée is simple:
“How do I make my lashes last as long as possible?”
The truth is, beautifully long-lasting lashes are a collaboration.
Part of it is the precision of the application, and part of it is how you care for them afterwards.
The good news is that maintaining your lashes is surprisingly simple. With the right habits, your extensions can remain soft, full, and beautifully lifted between appointments.
The First 24 Hours
Immediately after your appointment, the adhesive continues to cure and strengthen.
During this time, we recommend keeping things simple.
Avoid getting your lashes wet and stay away from steam, saunas, and intense workouts. Try not to rub or touch your eyes, and give eye makeup and skincare around the eye area a little pause.
Allowing the adhesive to fully set helps ensure your lashes stay beautifully in place for as long as possible.
Your Everyday Lash Routine
Once your lashes have settled, caring for them becomes part of your normal routine.
*Keep Them Clean
Clean lashes last longer.
Natural oils, makeup residue, and daily buildup can collect along the lash line. Gently cleansing your lashes with an oil-free lash cleanser helps keep both your extensions and your natural lashes healthy.
Many people worry that washing lashes will cause them to fall out, but the opposite is often true. Clean lashes tend to have better retention.
*Brush to Keep Them Soft and Aligned
A quick brush each morning can make a noticeable difference.
Using a clean spoolie brush, gently comb through the mid-lengths and tips of the lashes. This keeps them separated, fluffy, and aligned.
*Be Mindful of Oils
Oil is the one ingredient lash adhesives don’t love.
Try to avoid oil-based eye creams, makeup removers, or skincare products around the eye area. Switching to oil-free formulas helps extensions stay securely bonded for longer.
*Be Gentle With Your Lashes
Lash extensions are lightweight and flexible, but they should still be treated with care.
Avoid rubbing, pulling, twisting, or plucking your lashes. Removing extensions by force can pull out your natural lashes prematurely and disrupt their natural growth cycle.
Allow them to shed naturally as your lashes complete their growth process.
*Wash Your Face Gently
When cleansing your face or showering, avoid directing strong streams of water toward your lashes and refrain from using very hot water. Instead, rinse gently and pat dry with a soft towel.
Small Habits That Make a Big Difference
A few small lifestyle habits can also help your lashes stay looking their best.
Sleeping on your back or side helps reduce pressure on the lashes. Silk or satin pillowcases can also help minimize friction while you sleep.
If you swim, simply rinse your lashes with fresh water afterwards to remove chlorine or salt.
These small adjustments help maintain the shape and longevity of your set.
Maintaining Your Lash Set
Because your natural lashes shed regularly, extensions gradually shed with them.
Most clients return for refill appointments every two to three weeks to maintain a consistently full look.
During a refill, new extensions are applied to fresh lashes while any outgrown ones are gently removed.
A Final Note
Beautiful lash extensions should feel light, comfortable, and effortless.
With thoughtful application and simple care, your lashes can remain soft, full, and perfectly lifted between visits.
And when it’s time for a refresh, we’ll be here to welcome you back.
